The Back Story

Sisters in Cheese started in late 2017 when I told my sister-in-law that I had a literal dream on night about starting a business named "Sisters in Cheese" and sell fancy cheese boards. We joked about it for a few weeks (let's be real, it's a kind of ridiculous name), but then it quickly turned into the real deal when people started asking for them for their events. My sister-in-law and I decided not to mix best friendship and family with business, so I (my name is Chelsea, by the way. Pleased to meet you) became a one woman show with the occasional help from good friends and family.

Now let's hop back about 10 years ago. I was working in an Italian restaurant and ordering the antipasto platter for every discounted shift meal. For my own parties, I was making feeble attempts (we're talking pre-blocked cheddar chunks and slices of ham) at cheese platters at home. Over the years, these platters became more and more elaborate until I started dubbing them "cheesescapes" because they had started looking like topographic maps and landscapes.

Somewhere in the 10 years between the cheddar chunks/ham and the cheesescapes, I had figured out Instagram and the use of hashtags (not very well, admittedly) and went down a rabbit hole of cheese/antipasto/charcuterie board viewing. Food is gorgeous. And it was on that hashtag spiral that I found the incredible world of Australian Grazing Tables. The things I was putting together weren't called cheesescapes, they had a real name. Grazing boards. Grazing! Seriously, is there a better way to describe this way of eating? Standing around a beautifully crafted pile of delicious food, talking, drinking, laughing with friends and family - does anything sound better than that?

That brings us to now. Sisters in Cheese is a fully licensed catering company and eatery in Central Iowa. We offer grazing boards, tiles, boxes, and tables to order as well as breakfast and lunch items in our eatery from Tuesday through Saturday. It is our pleasure to be bringing good food to good people. And FYI, you don't need a special occasion to treat yo self. Eating should be the special occasion. So if you want to have a date night in or you're planning the ultimate date of your wedding, we got you.
